Energy and Processing

Pulp & Paper

The chemicals used in the pulp and paper industry, particularly in pulp bleaching, have led  to  a widespread use of stainless steels, typically austenitic grades 4404 (316L), 4432 and duplex 4462.

The  recent 4362 (23Cr 4Ni) duplex grade offers a corrosion resistance equivalent to 4404, with a higher strength and a substantial cost reduction. It is available from Ugitech in both bar and wire form.

All these grades are offered by Ugitech

Oil and Gas

Stainless steel is one of the materials currently used in oil and gas production. Typical applications using stainless steels are pumps, valves, filters and flanges.

The use of stainless steel is growing as increasingly aggressive environments are found in the oil & gas markets while demands for safe operations are increasing.

Electricity from Nuclear Energy

Stainless steel is widely used for nuclear energy production, as its corrosion resistance provides a a lasting (over 40 years) and safe operating product.

It is used in core components (fuel control systems), electricity generation (steam turbines, pumps and valves) as well as in depleted fuel transportation and storage.

Ugitech currently supplies Areva as well as products for ITER.

Nuclear energy appears today as one of the most viable alternatives to coal and oil for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
