Stainless steel, one of the preferred materials

Materials in the chemical industries must perform in an extremely wide range of corrosive media. Ni-base alloys, ceramics, graphite, polymers, glass, and of course stainless steels are used depending on the specific case.

Stainless steel is often preferred, when suited for the application, as it is not brittle unlike ceramics, glass or graphite. It can be easily formed, welded and is less expensive than Ni-base alloys.

The main applications of stainless steel long products in chemical industries are found in:

  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Fittings
  • Filters
  • Agitator
  • Welding wire
